Council should say THANK YOU!
Times are grim and the only thing worse than the economy is a bad attitude.
In a very tough and gracious decision, the Grants Pass Employee Association (GPEA) declined their annual, already budgeted, cost of living salary increase for 2009. The amount is generally small per person but it is called a cost of living adjustment because it attempts to keep salaries on pace with inflation.
The GPEA’s decision was a show of good faith and community spirit and they sent their message to the new City Council. The message was sadly met with confusion, fear and generally a bad attitude. I do not disagree with the new Council’s need to be thorough, to check legality and ask for confirmations… but really… how about starting and ending with, “Thank You.”
Will this hostile posture be the face of the new Grants Pass City Council?
We applaud Mayor Mike Murphy for remembering his manners and politely disagreeing with the Council.

The Rates
Land Use Planning Rates
- Inside Grants Pass UGB (minimum 2 hours per project) $95 per hour
- Outside Grants Pass UGB (minimum 2 hours per project) $80 per hour
Pre-Paid Service Rate
- With 6 month Subscription for up to 2 hours per month $50 per month
- Non-specific applications only
- General planning questions
- No penalty cancelation in first 30-days
Notary Service Rates
- No fee for notarization
- Travel fee and 1/2 hour onsite (within Grants Pass UGB) $50
- Each additional 1/2 hour $25
- Travel fee and 1/2 hour time (outside Grants Pass UGB, within Josephine County) $75
